Second Chance Jack Animal Rescue was founded by a group of volunteers that have been animal lovers their entire lives. Each person in the group has adopted/rescued animals and know the importance of giving animals that SECOND CHANCE in life. The founder has been in organized rescue for 8 years, but has been finding, rescuing and placing dogs in new homes since she was a young girl and has rescued over 200 dogs. Our animals at a minimum come spayed/neutered, all shots up to date, microchipped and heartworm tested. Our foster homes are not just a warehouse scenario. Our dogs get worked with, trained and many times take months of rehab for the time we have them in our homes. Adoption fees range from $150-250 and cats from $100-150. The rescue was named after Jack, a Karelian Bear Dog that was rescued from a horrific situation at a rural ranch where he was abandoned to die. He had been severely abused mentally and physically and had a shattered hind leg that had healed on its own in a frozen position. Only one person, his new mom, was able to touch Jack for the first 4 months and only after she was able to gain his trust and show that a relationship with people could be one of trust, respect and love not fear and abuse. He resembled a "normal" dog after about a year of rehab. Now, eight years later, at the age of 9, Jack and his doggie sibings have helped rehabilitate a vast number of pups needing their SECOND CHANCE. And he just recently got a prosthetic for his injured leg as he needs help as he has gotten older. Second Chance Jack is a small, all volunteer organization and our dogs are in foster homes and sometimes boarded when we have an animal in desperate need but no foster available. We do need volunteers for foster homes as well as fundraising.
