Rescued and Ready - Operation Homeward Bound

Cincinnati Animal Shelter

Cincinnati, Ohio 45254
Formed in late 2016, and beginning operations in 2017, Rescued & Ready seeks to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities by saving the lives of homeless pets. Each future service dog is rescued from an animal shelter and trained to become a service animal, bettering both the life of the dog and of the human recipient. Our dedicated volunteers and foster families work to raise, train, and successfully partner each dog with an individual living with significant physical or mental impairment. Thanks to Rescued & Ready's non-profit program, we are able to match these teams completely free of charge. Our training team works with each dog to ensure that they are partnered with the individual whose life they can improve the most. â?? â?? We also offer continued training and support from our teams, free of charge, for the life of their service dog to ensure the strongest partnership possible. â?? Our Training Process: â?? The Rescued & Ready training team is led by certified trainers who, working with fosters and volunteers, ensure that all of our dogs are trained to be reliable, effective assistance animals. Each dog is with us for a minimum of one year before being matched. Through extensive training, each animal is taught basic commands before passing the Canine Good Citizen test. After which they are matched with their potential partner to begin advanced task training and proofing before graduating the program. The dogs that do not have the temperament for this program are adopted as companion animals into loving approved homes. We also use our network of fosters and volunteers to pull at risk animals from shelters for eventual adoption.
