Marion County Animal Services operates out of the Animal Center. The center serves as a one-stop resource for animal services where staff is responsible for the humane housing, care, redemption and adoption of unwanted, abandoned and stray domestic animals and livestock.

Nearly 15,000 animals come through the center's doors each year, brought by citizens who have found strays, by pet owners who no longer want their pets and by animal control officers who seize the animals.

Citizens can also take advantage of low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, rabies vaccines, county licenses and microchips for their pets at the Animal Center as well as through the Neuter Commuter.

Our mission:
-educate the public on responsible pet ownership
-re-unite owners with their lost pets
-provide quality pets to the community
-control and to reduce pet overpopulation by providing low-cost spay and neuter surgeries
-serve in the procurement of licenses in compliance with local and state laws
-enforce county animal control ordinances
-prevent cruelty to animals
-protect the public from dangerous animals

Adopting a friend Find a new best friend and give an animal a second chance through Marion County Animal Services' adoption programs. The nominal adoption fee for dogs and cats includes the animal's surgical sterilization, vaccinations, county license tag and microchip.
