Adopt a Chihuahua

A NICE LITTLE LAP DOG:  6 years old / 10 lbs.  Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat. 11-4pm.  Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week.  I lost my home due to the birth of a child.  I don’t know why I had to go, but maybe they ran out of time for me.  So, I’m looking for a family that will commit to loving me for the rest of my life and I’ll do the same!  I’m a sweet guy who loves being held by the nice volunteers, and some say I’m a total lap dog. If you sit down, I’ll jump in your lap for a snuggle.  At first I was frightened, but once I realized I was in a safe place, both at the MM shelter and in my foster home, my sweet nature shined through. I am a very small dog, so in some situations, I get a little nervous and since I can't talk, I growl to let people know that I am uncomfortable. You’ll just have to understand this about me. I would be happiest in a home where my people listen to me and respond appropriately, so I feel safe. I am protective of my people and will bark to alert you to visitors, the mailman, delivery guy, pretty much anyone who comes around. I like kids who go slow with me and respect my size and personality.  No young kids, please. I’ve had good potty manners with only a few accidents so far, so once I get into my new home’s routine, hopefully I’ll be good to go!  I’m very good on a leash walking with you and I seem pretty comfortable with new people, once I know I’m in a safe home. I like being in my crate when I need some downtime—it’s my safe place. I know “come”, “sit”, “stay”, “high 5”, “down”, “quiet”, “place” and “leave it”—I’m so smart! I do well with calm dogs, but I’m not very playful, so if you have another dog in your home, we’ll need to meet to see if we can be buddies. I like the large, female dog in my foster home, and we do well on walks together.  I did try to chase a motorcycle that passed by and I’ll do the same with bicycles, so keep a hold of my leash please. Actually, you may want to double up and use a slip leash on me, so there’s not chance I can slip out of my collar.  Perhaps a harness would be the very best choice for me while on walks.  Energy level: 4-6.  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped, neutered and my adoption fee is $275.00.
