Sydney is a sweet and loving 1-2 year-old Rat Terrier mix female who had a rough start in life but is now ready to make a fresh start with a new family. She came into an overcrowded rural county dog shelter as a stray with her three 4 week old pups (Astro, Spice, and Orbit). The whole family was very thin and struggling to find enough to eat before they ended up at the shelter. They were in desperate need of some TLC so the whole family made the trip to Canine Lifeline so they would be able to enjoy life in a foster home as they recovered and worked on finding permanent homes. Upon arrival here with us, Sydney tested positive for heartworms so needed to go through lifesaving treatment before she was ready for adoption. Sydney has finished her heartworm treatment and done very well so is now ready to start the next chapter of her life in a permanent new home. Sydney gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home although she doesn’t like them to be around her food when she is eating. She has excellent crate manners and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee it. She’s very sweet and affectionate with her human friends so might be fine as the only dog in the home as long as her family has plenty of time to spend with her. She can’t wait to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be with her new family! Sydney weighs about 21 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, current on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. All Canine Lifeline adoptions come with a two-week trial period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email

An approved application is required before we set up meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Sydney and to submit an online application.

Sydney’s
heartworm treatment cost about $750. If you’d like to make a donation to help with her care so that we may save another dog in the future, please do so on our website at
