Greetings All. I am Ruthie Mae or you can call me Squeaks because that’s the sound I make whenever my human leaves me. I am an insistent snuggler; I need to sleep on my human’s pillow too. If you let me I will sleep on your face. I am also happy to stand on my foster mom’s lap and hug her while she works.  I just want to be with humans 24/7.





I LOVE every person I meet and will sit in front of them until they tell me I’m cute and pet me. I can be a little shy and easily roll over in a submissive fashion. I am sweet and calm except when popcorn is nearby. I’m a hungry girl and will do anything to get your food.





I am still working on potty training. I will occasionally have accidents.  I know to go when I’m out there, but I don’t like to spend much time outside. I prefer to stay inside and need to be carried out. I am working on a command word for ‘outside’ so I’ll get there. I occasionally walk on a leash but not every day so I’ll need a lot more practice. I am a work in progress though and learning good leash walking.  My foster mom has confidence in me and says I won’t need a fenced in yard for potty breaks.





I mostly do well with other dogs. I am submissive though so I can get snippy if I get scared or other dogs are pushy. There are other dogs at my foster home now and there are no issues though. I am pretty quiet too and never bark; I just squeak!





#1 My furever home has to come with humans who will let me snuggle. That’s a must! I crave attention and touch. #2 I have to be allowed to sleep in their bed. Those are my two requests; otherwise, I am low maintenance. I do not need much exercise and do not play a lot. I just want to be cuddled and held. I love my humans and I will get lonely if my peps are gone all day. I can be needy so a home with retirees or a human with a work from home job would be fantastic! Who can deliver?  I promise eternal love in return!



 



Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:  




Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:





All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:





Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
