Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

3 YEAR OLD MICKEYLEE HAD KNOWN ONE OWNER HER WHOLE LIFE.  She had been the sole pet companion to her mommy and is a little lost now as her mom had to surrender her to us because the place where they lived happily together told them MICKEYLEE's breed is not welcome.  Sad fact we see now over and over again so VBACAC now has this pretty golden tan and white energetic, affectionate and silly girl we need to find a new home for.  MICKEYLEE is house trained but she's not a fan of other dogs.  She has been super nervous in the shelter setting, however, as she's getting used to being with us, different volunteers and caretakers, she's opening up and we all can see what her previous owner saw in her, that fun loving wiggly girl who just wants to hang out with you, go for walks and play.  MICKEYLEE likes to talk to you, she's a member of the family so of course! Everyone gets a say, right?!  MICKEYLEE is said to be a good guard dog so when in a home and the doorbell rings, I'm pretty sure she's going to let you know.  She's also going to let the person on the other side of the door know she's there!  MICKEYLEE has been around her mom more than anyone else so there is a chance she may be more timid when meeting or hanging out with males.  She may just need a little extra time to adjust.  MICKEYLEE was not too bad when I approached her cage to take her out. Because others had been taking her already, she seemed willing to let me come in, handle her and harness her up.  Sounds easy, right?  LOL Nope! She was so excited when she saw the harness and leash, that she wiggled and wiggled!  I eventually clipped her in and off we went.  She pulled on the leash in her enthusiasm to go outside and when we were walking down the street.  This is a behavior we see often as shelter dogs are stuck in cages for most of the days.  They want to go outside and run around!  They want to run and play with their humans, just like this little girl MICKEYLEE.  As mentioned earlier, she does not care for other dogs and is not a feline fan so MICKEYLEE needs to be an only pet.  We do not know how she feels about children so bring yours in to meet her! She did not play with the tennis balls or frisbee in the yard but that doesn't always mean anything.  She's not used to her environment yet.  MICKEYLEE's previous owner also told us sometimes her hips bother her so she gets hip and joint treats.
