Four years ago, we adopted GiGi from Joyful Rescues. Had it not been for Joyful Rescues traveling to Mercer County WV and rescuing her from a high kill shelter, she would not be here nor would she have brought so much joy and happiness to our lives. My wife and I began a charitable organi zation, the Jake Memorial K9 Assistance Foundation, in memory of one of our personal Rescues , Jake, a stunningly handsome white shepherd who has passed on to help dog owners pay the escalating costs of vet care. Because of our age and declining health, we decided to end the program and help Joyful Rescues in recognition of their commitment to some of God’s smallest defenseless creations and their tireless commitment to this successful mission. We are sponsoring this transport for the personal feeling of happiness that we are contributing to the salvation of these deserving souls and placing their future in the most capable hands of the leaders of this group and its hundreds of volunteers. ~ Joe Moscato
Kennedy was born about September 27, 2017 and may...top out in then 25-50 lb. range when full grown. She and her brother were dropped off at a high kill pound because they were moving. Truly, please understand we are REALLY guessing at breed (we were told mom was a Doxie, but having a little trouble believing that) and ultimate size so if you don't like surprises this pup may not be for you. She is social, fun, funny, and has an out-going friendly personality. The one pup is black/tan/white and the other is the same with ticking in the tan & white - both major cute whatever they may be. Here is an update from the foster mom:
Kennedy is an absolute riot- she LOVES to play in the snow and run in the yard- and she is FAST!!! She loves toys and would be great with another dog to play with. She tries to engage my grumpy Jack Russell but he will only play with her when they are outside. The chase and chase until they are exhausted.
Kennedy sits on command and cuddles when she is done playing. She is great with my kids (both 12) and has a hysterical grumble when she doesn't like something. She is learning manners but still gets very excited about other people's food.... But every day she is learning a little more. She is also learning to shake.
She is doing pretty well with potty training- we are not done yet but its getting better. She is so soft and such a beautiful little lady.
This is all we know so far as the southern high kill pound doesn't ask any questions on intake as the reason is so often financial and embarrassing. We will be learning as we go and so will you.

Adoptions fees vary based on adoptability. In general our fees include spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccines, Home Again micro-chipping & registration, worming & flea control - a "complete" pet. We accept CASH or Visa/Mastercard ONLY.
Joyful Rescues has no funding except for our adoption fees and miscellaneous donations. Pet care and vet bills are expensive - you must be ready to take on this financial (as well as emotional) responsibility.
