Adopt a Beagle / Pug / Mixed (short coat)
1712-1648 Checkers the Dog needs a home
Checkers is the bomb, at 5 to 8 years old. He is friendly, sweet, and oh so easy on the leash. He is a pleasant and easy going boy willing to let you lead him to a life of happiness ever after. He is house trained. He loves going for walks. He is a quaint size standing only a small height but he packs a lot in his tummy which probably would benefit from a few more walks and bit less on his dinner plate. I cannot say enough nice things about this little camera shy boy who also is very quiet unless he wants to go outside, which I might add, he loves to do. He listens well and knows commands. His previous adopter also points out they feel Checkers needs someone to show him love as he seems to feel unwanted. Such a sad sentiment! Let's get this little boy a loving and caring home where he never feels unwanted ever again! He is incredibly affectionate and therefore easy for any new family to show him love. Checkers is such a nice gracious boy you have to come meet him. Adopting an older or senior pet is the best. They are just easy to add to a household. He would probably do best in an adult home with no other pets. Checkers is currently in our medium dog adoption kennel so if you don't see him, please just ask! His id number is 1712-1648. Thank you for considering adoption!
NOTES FROM FOSTER MOM:
My experience with Checkers having fostered him on two separate occasions, is that he is a very happy and friendly guy and loves everyone he meets including children. He loves walking, and being outside, but inside his energy level is all about sleeping the day away in a sunny spot. He is quiet, doesn't chew and 100% house trained. No separation anxiety at all, except when I take him back to the shelter! He loves to cuddle and is super affectionate. I can pick him up, he enjoys being bathed and brushed. He even lets me clip his nails. He does love to eat and is eager when a treat is offered or it's dinnertime, but he knows to sit without being told while extending a treat which he takes gently, or placing his dish in front of him. The dogs he's encountered at the beach, larger and more energetic have not bothered him, I think he would love to run and play, I have not observed any aggression and haven't heard him growl at anything or anyone.
