DOG'S DESCRIPTION

Carol was adopted from us as a puppy but sadly her family couldn't handle her being a typical rambunctious and energetic pup and returned her to us. She has been confused and scared since she came back to us and she doesn't understand what she has done wrong. We are hoping that this girl gets a second chance and this time it will be forever.  She's a very sweet girl and good with other dogs.  She gets VERY excited for attention and will jump on you.  She has had some obedience training and knows SIT, but the rest still needs work. She needs a very strong handler that can work with her and give her lots of EXERCISE!  She needs to get out on run and be able to be  puppy, but also needs to continue training. She is sweet, well crate trained, housetrained (but being in a kennel sometimes undoes that hard work so a refresher course may be required).

Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.

Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.

Foster Program:  Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at [email protected]
