I am Shireen and I am about 3 years old and 8 pounds. I am a sweet pup who blooms with a little lovin'!

I’ve really begun to enjoy my days as part of a loving family.

Because I'm so soft, it's easy to give me love! I can be a little wary when meeting strangers, but quickly warm up and love to be pet and loved.

I’m enjoying small soft toys, squeaky toys and bully sticks. I love to frolic outside as well.

Playing with dogs around my size is a lot of fun. Another dog in the home to play with would be the bees knees. I am incredibly people oriented, so it's possible that if my human is home a lot, I could be OK as an only dog. I just want to be around the people and fur friends I love!

I could live a life without small children; their fast movements and loud noises confuse me. I would probably be OK with calm and respectful children over 5 years old though.

I am doing better with loud noises and commotion though. I am getting used to it knowing that I’ll be OK so I have less fear.

I want to make my person happy, so am working hard on my house training

and it’s going well. I am making progress.

Sometimes it's tricky for me, because I can smell where other dogs have had accidents in the past and it makes it confusing to know the right place. I do go to the bathroom when we go outside, so I definitely understand! I'll get there!

I’m doing pretty well with crate training; I can go all night and I rarely have accidents when I am in the crate.

I am working on commands for ‘wait’, ‘leave it’, ‘outside’ and ‘inside’. I’m one smart cookie and love the challenge of puzzle games. Besides I need activities to keep me from nuisance barking ,barking when my foster mom comes home or barking to get her attention. I admit it;  I do it!

I will hopefully work on leash training soon. We are taking it slow, because the leash kind of makes me nervous and I'm not sure what to do with it quite yet.  A little time and patience will go a long way for me!

I just know I’ll love to go for walks one day!

I am such a wonderful pup and I cannot wait to meet you and warm your heart.

Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends.  In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:

http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website

www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications

and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
