Carrie is looking for someone who knows how to pamper a poodle. Carrie is gentle and sweet, and a stay-at-home kind of girl who likes a daily routine, lots of naps in the chair with you, short slow walks to satisfy her curiosity, and will happily embrace a low-key lifestyle.  Carrie is 9 years old and almost 9 lbs.

Carrie came into the shelter super skinny, very neglected and very matted. She was rescued as a candidate for air flight back East where poodles are in short supply. Unfortunately, Carrie is super-anxious in a crate, so she can't qualify for plane flights and ended up in our rescue. She is house trained when allowed out on a predictable schedule. Carrie does not hear very well, so she would LOVE to have a home with another poodle her size that can hear so she can follow their lead. She is learning signs for Hello, Go Out, Come, Good Girl, GotoBed and Treat! If you have noisy neighbors or roommates, she will sleep through the night in a dog bed in your bedroom or in your bed if it is low to the ground.

Carrie had quite a makeover, including a dental, spay, hernia surgery, and even new (and somewhat necessary) super-short hairstyle for the summer. She prefers wet or soft food for dental reasons.  She receives a daily low dose of liquid glucosamine chondroitin for gait issues due to an old hip fracture and a slippery left back kneecap, but she walks well and likes to explore. Carrie should always be on a leash because she cannot hear you recall her and will be focused on where her nose & eyes lead her.  She appreciates a step or help to be able to curl up in her favorite chair for a snooze. She is okay with the dog-tolerant cat in her foster home, and good with other dogs of all sizes. Like all poodles, she needs regular professional or at-home grooming for health and comfort.

Carrie is ready to be someone's adored and cherished poodle girl.  She is spayed, up-to-date on shots, microchipped, had a professional haircut that made her prance around, had a vet examine her hip & knee issues, and has had hernia surgery and a dental.  Her adoption fee is $150.

All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.

We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience.  To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.

All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.

Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.
