How To Show Your Dog How Much You Love Him
1. Spoil him rotten. There are a lot of people who spend a lot of money at chic pet boutiques, dressing their dogs in hundred-dollar outfits and paying for meticulous pawdicures. They buy diamond studded collars and give their dogs rooms of there own. You probably dont have the budget for things like that, I know I dont. You can still spoil your dog with simple, everyday things that are very reasonably priced, things we can all afford. Next time your four legged friend needs a bath, focus on giving him a massage while youre working the soap into his coat. Load him up in the car and take him out for a drive once each week and make sure you dress according to the weather so you can open a window and let his head hang out, his ears will flap in the breeze, and his nose will fill with more scents than you can imagine.
2. Stuff him silly. Your dog loves food! It drives every thought he has, every impulse in his body. But as people we are more rational, we know that food needs to be both delicious and nutritious to ensure he has as long, happy and healthy a life as possible. Why not try making some homemade dog treats and dog food that are absolutely packed with all of the vitamins and nutrients he needs to stay healthy? Bake him a delicious, healthy cake for his next birthday!
3. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best. If you know exactly what to do in an emergency, you will infinitely increase the chances that your dog will be around for a long time to come. Do you know what to do if your dog is choking? You should lay your dog on his side and place one hand on his back and the other on his stomach just behind his rib cage (you can probably feel his bones if you try it now). Using the stomach hand, push in and toward his throat twice, but not to hard, we want to save him not injure him. If you can see the object lodged in his throat, sweep your fingers through his mouth to remove it. If hes still choking, place your mouth over his nose and exhale until his chest rises. Repeat once, and then thrust two more times. Continue until he coughs out the object.
4. Speak his language. Unless you believe in pet psychics, theres really no way for you to read your dogs mind and know exactly what shes thinking. The good news is that, like many dog owners, the problems you are experiencing can probably be traced back to one simple thing: youre attempting to communicate with your dog from a people standpoint, and your dog isnt a person. Rather than saying “no,” a word that doesnt really mean anything to a dog, try growling in a deep, voice the next time youre unhappy with something hes done. He should get the message immediately. Hell appreciate you meeting him halfway, by trying to speak his language!
