The Family Guardian and Any Intruder's Worst Nightmare

The Ambullneo Mastiff

Obtained in the early 1980`s by crossing three related breeds of mastiffs (American, Neopolitan and Bullmastiffs) with 3 types of bulldogs and keeping only the best ones, the Ambullneo Mastiff is healthier than the breeds from which it originates.

Their inherited instinct of protection and their fierce aspect have made them the perfect guardian dogs for your family. They have the ability to get along with the family pets, especially if they are socialized at an early age. Very intelligent and curious, they are very interested all the time in whatever changes you make in your house or outside - a new garden swing, a new table in the kitchen and so on. They are adaptable to changes, but must be given enough time to inspect everything before accepting the new environment.

The Ambullneo Mastiff is a large sized dog (with an average height of about 26 inches), practically giving the impression of a fierce dog, with all its big muscles and its large head. Its powerful jaws and the sharp teeth, forming an undershot bite, can easily frighten any intruder.

Its ears are upright, triangular-shaped, usually cropped medium length. With a body covered in a short-hair coat, the Ambullneo Mastiff can have a vast array of colors and patterns, except merle, but owners prefer the black coated dog, because it looks more impressive. Its rough fur ensures a good weather protection, and allows these dogs to feel comfortable outside during the wintertime.

In spite of its massiveness, the Ambullneo Mastiff is agile and very fast, perfectly adapted to catch and fight with the pray, and its instincts are making it the perfect predator. This is why we strongly recommend thorough training for this breed, especially in the families where there are other pets or little children around. Being a hunting dog, it is also very intelligent, so there should be no problem for it to be trained in order to accept a family with many other members.

As with all hunting dogs, it is very important for the owner to act as the pack leader at all times; this breed needs to be cleverly handled, that is why it is not recommended to try to have them if you are new to dog breeding.

The dog needs long walks at least twice a day or a large outdoors environment, in order to satisfy its inherited need to run. That is why Mastiffs are not often seen living in small apartments and transporting them in a small car is out of question, not to mention leaving them alone inside the car. The fence of the property should be higher than 5 feet in order to keep this agile dog within the yard's limits. This dog should not be allowed to leave the property on its own, because its hunting instinct could create problems for everyone who is not considered to be a member of its pack.

The Ambullneo Mastiff remains a very agile hunter, resistant on various climates, massive and fierce, with a very strong personality.
