The Yancey County Animal Shelter is a non-profit public animal shelter located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, just 30 miles north of Asheville. We take all animals brought to us: strays, feral dogs, cats, and personal pets. We provide a loving temporary home until they can be placed in a permanent home. We are not a no kill shelter, however we do not have a time limit. We treat everyone as an individual and temperamant test for adoptability. This way, no one slips through the system, and we know each and every personality in the house. So, if you are looking for a pet, we can help match you with the perfect friend who will fit your lifestyle.
