The West Milford Animal Shelter is the only animal shelter in NJ that is operated completely by volunteers. All volunteers are members of the West Milford Animal Shelter Society (WMASS). WMASS volunteers donate over 1,200 hours per month at the facility and have established a trusting and caring environment for the over 1,000 animals that arrive at our shelter each year. Our annual adoption rate is 80% (the national average rate is 20-25 %).We provide educational programs for community service groups, schools and clubs. LOW COST SPAY/ NEUTER CERTIFICATES CAN BE PURCHASED AT THE SHELTER. All services are provided by local veterinarians. We also have a Sponser-A-Pet (SAP) program, for anyone wishing to contribute funds to provide for the care of any of our animals.Sponser-A-Pet can make a wonderful and thoughtful gift. while this program is still in effect, we are in the midst of enhancing our program... we'll keep you informed!
