Every day Wayne County animals continue to suffer in conditions intolerable at the Animal Shelter while the County Commissioners continue to delay their efforts to build a new facility. In January, the Commissioners voted to ask architectural firms to provide cost estimates of various parts of the Shelter. To date, the County has only received three responses. Therefore, the County will expand their search for cost estimates from experienced architects. This is not the formal bidding procedure that the County must follow to begin the project, but just the continual and additional investigations of costs - costs the Commissioners already know and which simply further delay construction of the Shelter. Overpopulation of animals and all the problems overpopulation creates continue to grow, the suffering of our animals continues unabated, and still the Commissioners find a way to do almost nothing. If this is intolerable to you, please contact the County Commissioners. Tell them that they need to take immediate steps to build a new animal facility. Tell them that they will continue to receive phone calls and emails until the facility is built!!! Do it for the animals, do it for Wayne County.
