WASART is a non-profit, all volunteer, grass-roots organization whose primary focus is the evacuation and sheltering of livestock during a disaster. WASART's volunteers, after training and credentialling, will receive Emergency Worker designation by the State of Washington and be covered under the State insurance plan.
WASART will be activated by county andor state officials through 911.
A secondary focus is public education on disaster preparedness, for themselves and their livestock and animals, through presentations, seminars, flyers, newsletters, booths at emergency preparedness fairs, etc.
