The mission of The Washington County Humane Society is to protect animals from suffering and cruelty, to provide care for animals afflicted by neglect and abandonment, and to enhance the lives of animals and people through education, adoption and compassion.

Our animal services include contracting with Washington County for stray dog pickup, and contracting with ten out of twenty municipalities for stray cat and injured/ill wildlife pickup. We also accept surrendered animals. Our staff inoculates every animal that comes into our shelter, and tests all cats for Feline Leukemia/FIV. We treat illnesses in-house with outside veterinary support, and provide emergency veterinary care for those animals in need. We also work closely with wildlife rehabilitators prior to re-release. Our Adoption Counselors work extensively with potential adopters to ensure the best possible matches, and provide follow-up consulting services to those families as well as others calling for assistance. We do not put a time limit on the animals in our care and we hold our animals as long as it takes to find them a loving home.
