Your main county animal shelter is located at 600 Aviation Drive in Camarillo, California, on the Camarillo airport complex. The facility was built in 1985 and can house approximately 400 animals. We can accommodate birds, livestock, and exotic animals as well as our most frequent guests: dogs and cats. Nearly every animal that comes through our door has one common bond: lack of owner identification. As much as we care for your animal, we would rather not care for it here. By identifying your pet with a valid license and ID tag you will do your pet, and your community, a great service. Adoption services are available during Counter Hours.Our adoption policy states that adoptions are on a "first come, first served" basis, but if two or more people desire to adopt the same animal at the time the shelter opens, or if two persons simultaneously desire to adopt an animal, a drawing will be held to determine who is allowed to adopt.
