The Sullivan County Animal Control / Animal Shelter is a division of the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. We are a tax exempt, taxpayer and donation supported shelter. We support and promote the control of the animal population through the spay and neuter of dogs and cats. We advocate the Ethical and Humane treatment of animals in accordance with all applicable state laws. THE SHELTER IS ALWAYS IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE THE TIME TO COME DOWN TO THE SHELTER AND WORK. WE CAN ESPECIALLY USE PERSONS DURING THE MORNING HOURS ON MONDAYS, TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS, FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS, TO ASSIST WITH THE CLEANING PROCESS. VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS CAN BE PICKED UP AT THE ANIMAL SHELTER, DURING BUSINESS HOURS. *****IN ADDITION TO VOLUNTEERING, AT THE SHELTER, WE CAN ALSO USE QUALIFIED PERSONS, WHO AFTER BEING APPROVED AS VOLUNTEERS, TO SERVE AS FOSTER HOMES FOR DOGS AND CATS.******
The mission of the Sullivan County Animal Control is to reduce the number of unwanted domesticated animals in the Sullivan County area. The mission will be accomplished through internal and external adoption programs, in which shelter animals are placed in proper homes, the education of the general public of the need to spay and neuter their animals, the enforcement of Tennessee Leash Laws and the investigation of reports regarding Animal Cruelty.
