The Steele County Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, comprised of one paid employee and approximately 25 community volunteers. As indicated in our mission statement, our organization is dedicated to the following tasks:
* Providing quality foster care for homeless cats and dogs in the Steele County area.
* Encouraging the adoption of homeless cats and dogs.
* Encouraging the spaying and neutering to reduce the pet overpopulation.
* Assisting in the enforcement of the laws for prevention of cruelty to animals and to aid district and county societies and agencies in the enforcement of such laws.
* Assisting in the organization of district and county societies and give them representation in any state federation for the humane and ethical treatment of animals.
* Providing education to the general public on humane and ethical treatment of animals.
* Bringing together and supporting others interested in developing the humane treatment and care of animals.
