The Somerset-Pulaski County Humane Society was established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation in June, 1989. The Society was instrumental in the building of a new county animal shelter in the early 1990s. After an inactive period of several years, the Society was revitalized in 2002 and has developed into a major force for the welfare of the animals within Pulaski County.
There have been new by-laws adopted, and a Board of Directors now oversees the operation of the Society. Volunteers are the backbone of the organization, and it is their dedication that makes the Humane Society a potent force in the community. There are currently more than 300 members, many of whom are active in various capacities.
