The Royal City Humane Society (RCHS) was incorporated as a non-profit association in December 1994 and received registered charity status in early 1995. The RCHS was founded by concerned New Westminster residents to deal with the pet overpopulation problem within our community. To further our goals, we have approached City Council regarding mandatory spay/neuter by-laws for pets and licensing for cats (as is already in place for dogs). In our efforts to ensure the fair and proper treatment of animals, the RCHS is also involved in testing and treating animals for disease, vaccinating, tattooing and spaying or neutering animals, and placing homeless animals within our foster care system. We also have feeding stations at various locations in New Westminster for undomesticated (feral) cats that we trap, test for disease, vaccinate, tattoo and spay or neuter then release.
