The Rowlett Animal Shelter opened in 1997 to serve the surrounding community. The Animal Service Division is responsible for the enforcement of the City Ordinances and State Laws pertaining to animals, fowl and public health. The Animal Service Division operates and maintains the Animal Shelter facilities to provide humane treatment to all animals in their care and provides education to public and private schools to promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals.
