The Aryan Molossus
Once a Warrior, Today a Loyal Companion and a Family-Protector
Should you ever decide that you need a big dog, with an imposing posture, which can look threatening and majestic at the same time, the Aryan Molossus is definitely one breed that you must take into consideration.
The Armant
The Egyptian Dog with a Lot of Love to Give
To some of you, the Armant is better known as the “Egyptian Sheepdog” and, just as the name suggests it, it was bred to be a herding dog. However, in ancient times, it was used mostly as a guard dog. This breed is originally from Egypt and named after the town of Armant. Its loyalty and agility are the two main characteristics which make this dog special.
The Atlas Terrier
The Small Dog With a Massive Dose of Energy
At a glimpse, the Atlas Terrier can be easily mistaken with the Jack Russell Terrier. However, there are some differences that may help you tell these two cousins apart. Before deciding to buy or adopt a dog of this breed, there are some things that you have to take into consideration. Unfortunately, this is quite a rare breed of dogs in our days.
Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie
It Is Impossible Not to Love Them
Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie are the smallest dogs in the Anglos-Francais category. However, the name „Petite”, meaning „small”, is not at all referring to the size of the dogs, but to the game they are after. Even if they've been around since the 16th century, today, these dogs are not easy to find. So if you have decided to adopt one, you can be sure that you will have a unique pet.

Rocky's Fund Dog Rescue/Welcome Home Sanctuary is an all-breed rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation organization. In addition, we specialize in ElderDogs and Special Needs, providing sanctuary for a limited number of dogs. We work very closely with several municipal shelters and other no-kill shelters to prevent needless euthanasias and to get dogs into their forever homes. The sanctuary currently has over 30 dogs who live as house dogs in our homes and foster homes. They live in common, all vying for the best spot on the bed! They live very peacefully together, and this is the way we introduce all dogs to their new lives if they are not being rehomed directly out of another shelter or home. Dogs with behavioural issues are rehabilitated with Clicker Training and other positive training methods only. We do not use extreme "temperament tests", all dogs are fostered in loving homes before adoption whenever possible, and all dogs are evaluated on an individual basis. In addition, we are proud to offer Guardians the comfort of our Angel's Rest program, encouraging guardians to provide for their ElderDogs to come into Sanctuary when they are no longer able to care for them. All Trusts are discreet and honored for each animal per the terms of a pre-arranged agreement.
As of the end of 2004, we are no longer "just dogs" anymore! We have taken in birds, bunnies, turtles and other herps, and kitties who have fallen on hard times and could not otherwise be placed.
All dogs that come through our adoption/Sanctuary/foster system are spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested and on preventative, fully vaccinated, and in some cases (seniors and special needs dogs) have had baseline bloodwork and/or radiographs prior to adoption.
Our future goal includes securing enough land to expand the number of dogs we take into foster/rehabilitation and sanctuary care. This will be a home, not a dog warehouse, where the dogs will live with staff and volunteers in a home-like setting, and those dogs who can be behaviourally or otherwise rehabilitated for adoption, will be worked with and found new forever homes. We also engage, when possible, in advocacy work on behalf of all canines everywhere, especially in local communities. Contributions are gratefully accepted and fully deductible to the extent allowed by law. We receive no State of Federal monies, and are totally volunteer driven. We can always use donations of blankets, dog food (please contact us about what types of food we use), dog beds, dog bowls, and veterinary care. If you would like to sponsor a dog in Sanctuary, please contact us. We are always in need of Foster Homes, and would love to include you as a part of our Fostering Family! This enables us to save more lives and allow more animals to live with a family before they move on to their forever homes. To find out more, please contact us at 631.287.5428 to obtain a Foster Application. We are an IRS not-for-profit corporation, with a 501[c][3] designation. To make a tax-deductible monetary donation, please contact us directly. May all dogs know the kindness of a gentle touch, the sweet breath of a whispered endearance and the warmth of a bed shared with a beloved guardian.
