Purrfect Pals was founded in 1988 by Kathy Centala. described by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer as "the Mother Theresa of Homeless Pets," Kathy felt that the tragic overpopulation of cats across Puget Sound needed to be stopped. Cats needed a place where they were free to thrive without the lingering threat of "death row."
In 2006 Purrfect Pals expects to adopt more than 2,500 cats a year, in addition to providing long-term and permanent sanctuary for more than 300 cats, making Purrfect Pals the largest cat-only adoption organization and sanctuary in the world. In the summer of 2006 we will find a home for our 17,000th cat! We place cats through our shelter in Arlington, Washington, and at about 22 partner facilities located across Puget Sound.
Purrfect Pals operates a large cat sanctuary at our Arlington shelter, providing a loving home for hundreds of cats. All cats are welcome at Purrfect Pals. Whether the cat is happy and friendly, and ready to be adopted, or has been identified as feral, or diagnosed with an illness such as FIV or Feline Leukemia, these cats all have a home at Purrfect Pals. Our sanctuary features spacious colonies with outdoor access so that our special cats can live their lives secure in the knowledge that they are safe and comfortable.
