We are a privately funded non-profit organization that helps families in the Athens area spay or neuter their dogs and cats to improve the animals' quality of life and to reduce shelter overcrowding and euthanasia. We help the elderly, the poor, and the physically and mentally challenged. Many of our clients are referred by the Council on Aging, home health care attendants, and concerned neighbors.
Thanks to local veterinarians and donors, last year we facilitated over 1000 spays or neuters, preventing the birth of thousands of unwanted kittens and puppies.
We also seek to reduce pet overpopulation by capturing, neutering and releasing feral cats who have a legitimate and reliable caregiver from the local community. Neutering feral cats reduces the number at shelters or foster homes, increases the chances of foster/shelter cats getting homes, and eases the burden on the animal control system.
