El Pobre de Asis A.C. is a legal non-profit Mexican organization established by Gracie Gracida, a Peñasco school physiologist. This project was started over 5 years ago by fighting the system and making it happen, and in January 2001 we became a Legal Non-Profit Mexican Organization. This means if you live in Rocky Point and pay taxes to Hacienda (Mexican version of IRS) as we do, then any donations are a tax write-off for you. I can assure you we are the only legal animal- associated facility in Peñasco. To date we have held 6 continuous spay/neuter clinics in 2005 and have another scheduled in March.
