Our mission is focus on abuse prevention and to pursue the rescue of abused, neglected, unwanted or displaced companion psittacines (parrot type birds) where we specialize in identifying any medical, behavioral, dietary, or other needs and treat the bird as necessary. Secondly, we find adoptive home from interviewed applicants that meet or exceed the same standards of commitment we expect of ourselves while placing emphasis on education of current or future bird owners as well as the general public of the compassion, commitment, care and information required for companion avians to thrive in domestic situations. We also commit ourselves to offering aid to elderly or terminally ill applicants who inquire of the organization to have a companion songbird or other small bird to offer comfort in the final days of the person(s) utilizing the service. PPAR provides the cage, food and, if needed, a volunteer to clean the cage regularly. There is no charge for these services, though donations are always welcome.
