Who We Are
Orphans of the Storm (www.orphansofthestorm.org) is one of the country's largest animal shelters. Founded in 1928, we take in all stray, abandoned, abused and neglected dogs and cats from the governmental agencies of northeastern Illinois. In the true spirit of an orphanage, no animal is turned away. We offer refuge and rehabilitation and adopt into warm and loving homes thousands of dogs and cats each year. We hope that once you get to know us, you'll support our cause by adopting from us and by spreading the word about all of the great pets available at Orphans of the Storm.

Adopting a friend
Visit Orphans of the Storm and choose your new friend from over 350 cats and 160 dogs daily. All animals are available for adoption seven days a week from 11:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. The adoption fee is $60 and includes spay/neuter, some vaccinations, felv-fiv tests, collar, leash and two weeks of follow up veterinary care if needed. When considering a new friend for your family, please visit an animal shelter first before a pet store or a breeder. We truly do have the best pets to be found. When visiting, bring as many members of your family (including dogs) as possible, to help make sure the new addition is a good fit. Remember, you're adopting a friend for life. Our animals are listed on Petfinder and they can be viewed at www.orphansofthestorm.org.
