The Metro East Humane Society (MEHS) is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, the provision of appropriate care and medical attention to an disposition of animals committed to its care, the extension of humane education, and the encouragement of animal population control.
It is our policy to provide humane care and treatment for all animals needing protection in the area served by the Society, to seek to return lost animals to their owners, to seek suitable homes for animals without owners, and to provide euthanasia when necessary.
MEHS serves a 5-county area in southwestern Illinois, offering an adoption program for homeless animals and the only licensed animal abuse/neglect investigator in the area.
