Our Services Each year the Memphis Shelby County Humane Society provides food, shelter and a safe haven for approximately 1,200 companion animals from across Shelby County. Our daily operations revolve around three core services: Adoptions:Each year we find new homes for approximately 1,000 dogs and cats. We screen all potential adopters to ensure we create the perfect match between our animals and prospective homes. This extra effort results in an 85% success rate. Veterinary Care: We vaccinate, spay or neuter all animals that come into our care. Further, we treat medical conditions such as heartworm (prevalent in neglected animals) as well as more severe injuries that require surgical procedures. Cruelty Investigations: There is an epidemic of animal cruelty in Shelby County and across the United States. Our Cruelty Officer receives and investigates multiple complaints each and every day of the year. This service gives both a voice and a new chance at life to countless animals.
