The Melrose Humane Society is a nonprofit, no-kill domestic animal rescue organization. They have many animals for adoption. EddieThey work closely with a number of local area Vets, the ASPCA and MSPCA, the Humane Coalition of Massachusetts and PAWS of Wakefield. They rescue dogs and cats.

They take in abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted stray cats and dogs and give them medical treatment and lots of love. They socialize traumatized animals by working with them very closely. Did you know, they also hand feed kittens who have lost their mommies, and they also take care of expecting mommies? I wonder what they are expecting? Cat treats maybe? They also spay and neuter any animal in their care who is over 6 months old to help prevent more abandoned kitties and puppies!

Even more, they have taken care of special needs animals, those poor creatures who have suffered the loss of a limb or an eye, or worse! They have some wonderful stories about how these animals were matched with the perfect humans, and lived happy lives as a result.

They also counsel both animals and humans! Imagine, therapy for traumatized animals! You won't find that in a lot of places! But the kind folks at Melrose Humane Society do it all the time.
