The Mission of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is to protect animals, relieve their suffering, advance their health and welfare, prevent cruelty and work for a just and compassionate society. The MSPCA-Western New England WNE Animal Care and Adoption Center is one of seven MSPCA animal care and adoption centers that receive and place thousands of homeless animals each year. We provide shelter, veterinary care, and adoption services for a wide variety of purebred and mixed-breed dogs and cats, in addition to rabbits, guinea pigs, and many other small animals. We go beyond sheltering, striving to be the local communities' best resource for animal-related information and assistance. We provide advice on animal behavior and offer training classes educate and assist the public regarding responsible pet ownership and pet-population control including low cost spayneuter assistance programs answer questions on dealing humanely with wildlife related issues or concerns and rescue injured pets and wildlife. The MSPCA is a private, nonprofit 501 c 3 organization that receives no local, state, or federal funding of any kind. The MSPCA relies exclusively on individual and corporate donations to continue its work on behalf of animals and people. The MSPCA has received a 4 Star Charity Navigator rating. The MSPCA–WNE was recently named the Best Local Nonprofit in the Pioneer Valley as part of an independent readers’ poll in the Valley Advocate.
