The LHS adoption program places companion animals in loving homes where they receive the care and commitment they deserve. Adoptions include spaying or neutering, vaccination, a free veterinary exam, extensive care information, low-cost training classes (dogs), and screening for feline leukemia virus (cats).
Education on animal protection is central to every LHS program. Our newsletter, newspaper articles, behavior counseling, training classes, shelter tours and in-person presentations reach thousands of people every year with messages about responsible pet care. The LHS lending library provides the public easy access to books, video tapes and other materials about pet care, behavior and training. Our staff visits schools, youth groups and adult organizations to promote the humane treatment of animals.
