The mission of the Larimer Humane Society is to promote and provide the responsible care and treatment of animals.
The Society is an independent, nonprofit agency. We are not a division of any County or City and are not funded by any governmental or national animal welfare organziation. We are a 501 © (3) corporation and we are governed by a volunteer board of directors.
he Larimer Humane Society is an open-door shelter. Unlike no-kill facilities, we offer care to every animal in need. In order to be a no-kill shelter we would have to limit the number and types of animals we accept. We don’t turn any animal away and last year, the Humane Society sheltered over 9000 domestic animals and over 2500 wild animals, and the Animal Protection and Control Department answered over 20,000 calls. In 2004 the Larimer Humane Society adopted over 3,000 into loving new homes.
