The Aryan Molossus
Once a Warrior, Today a Loyal Companion and a Family-Protector

Should you ever decide that you need a big dog, with an imposing posture, which can look threatening and majestic at the same time, the Aryan Molossus is definitely one breed that you must take into consideration.

The Armant
The Egyptian Dog with a Lot of Love to Give

To some of you, the Armant is better known as the “Egyptian Sheepdog” and, just as the name suggests it, it was bred to be a herding dog. However, in ancient times, it was used mostly as a guard dog. This breed is originally from Egypt and named after the town of Armant. Its loyalty and agility are the two main characteristics which make this dog special.

The Atlas Terrier
The Small Dog With a Massive Dose of Energy

At a glimpse, the Atlas Terrier can be easily mistaken with the Jack Russell Terrier. However, there are some differences that may help you tell these two cousins apart. Before deciding to buy or adopt a dog of this breed, there are some things that you have to take into consideration. Unfortunately, this is quite a rare breed of dogs in our days.

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie
It Is Impossible Not to Love Them

Anglos-Francaises de Petite Venerie are the smallest dogs in the Anglos-Francais category. However, the name „Petite”, meaning „small”, is not at all referring to the size of the dogs, but to the game they are after. Even if they've been around since the 16th century, today, these dogs are not easy to find. So if you have decided to adopt one, you can be sure that you will have a unique pet.

K-9 Stray Rescue League is a state and federally licensed non-profit group formed in 1990 primarily to save dogs on the euthanasia list at local animal shelters.

Because we always find more deserving dogs at the shelters than we can house, we typically do not take owner "give-ups".

Most of the dogs at county and local shelters are there through no fault of their own. All most of them need is a loving, understanding, and responsible new home. That's where you (hopefully) come into the picture. We strongly encourage you to give these discards a "New Leash on Life" by adopting from a local or county shelter, a humane society, or an organization like ours.

K-9 Stray Rescue makes sure that all of its’ dogs are spayed or neutered and actively encourages everyone to spay/neuter their pets. We don’t want anyone to add to the over-population problem that currently puts so many innocent animals on death row (at least 13 million in the USA every year).

We try to bring our rescued dogs up-to-date on all medical needs and spay/neuter them prior to adoption. If there are still remaining medical needs for a dog at the time of adoption, we give you a vet authorization to take him/her to one of our vets to make sure everything is current.

Unfortunately, our group can only save a limited number of the shelter dogs so we are forced to be very selective. Our number one criteria is a good disposition. Size and breed are secondary. And since individuals and other rescue groups usually save the smaller dogs and purebred dogs, most of our dogs are the medium-to-large size mutts that get overlooked.

You'll still find a purebred or smaller dog in our pound puppy population on occasions. Purebred groups sometimes don't have the room and some matted smaller dogs get bypassed. Our fee is the same ($175) regardless of which dog you decide to adopt (be he or she purebred or mutt. This fee includes a spay/neuter even if you get a puppy that isn't ready for it yet. Our older more mature dogs (8 yrs and up) are $100.

In addition to helping dogs in need, our group also works with organizations that use dogs to help people in need. We have given numerous dogs to Leader Dogs for the Blind and U.S. Customs. Many of these throw away dogs have made it through the intensive training programs and become active service dogs.
