You have reached the shelter page for Highland Animal Shelter. Highland Animal Shelter is located in highland, Illinois. If you have information to add or update for Highland Animal Shelter, please click here and let us know.
The Highland Animal Shelter (H.A.S.) is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization run by two employees and numerous volunteers. We are also a no-kill facility that has been in operation since 1986.
The goals of this all-volunteer organization are to provide food and shelter for all animals brought in by the City and its residents, to find owners (original or new) for these pets, to provide veterinarian care for all the animals in need that are brought to H.A.S., and to educate the public on proper pet care and population control.
As you can see below, the dogs at the H.A.S. live either in pairs or individually in pens, and the cats live either in pairs or individually in cages. There is a cat room in which cats that are spayed/neutered and get along well with others are allowed to roam free instead of living in cages. We would like to add another cat room onto the building so that we can allow more cats to live outside of the cages. In addition, there is an area in which cats with FIV or leukemia live, kept apart from the other cats to prevent spreading these diseases.
