The Haines Animal Rescue Kennel is a non-profit corporation dedicated to finding appropriate homes for unwanted and homeless animals, providing low-cost spay/neuter services and educating the public on responsible pet care. It is our goal to provide shelter for stray and abandoned animals while they await permanent adoptions, to provide access to veterinary care and grooming facilities and to offer educational opportunities that further the welfare of pets and animals in our community.
HARK was founded in 2001 by a group of local residents to promote the interests of pets and wildlife in the community. We are a federally recognized, non-profit organization, funded primarily by private donations and memberships.
The organization is governed by a nine member board of directors, and daily operations are overseen by our Executive Director and administrative assistant. Additional labor is provided by volunteers performing tasks that include animal care, cage cleaning, and providing office and clerical support.
