Organized in 1993, the Georgia Equine Rescue League came into existence for the purpose of helping to end neglect and abuse of equines, and to assist with their recuperation from neglect and abuse whenever possible, and to engage in the transaction of any lawful activity.

Since its inception, the GERL has donated more than $165,000.00 towards the State of Georgia's, Department of Agriculture Equine Program, and continues to support that effort. The GERL also has it's own Foster and Adoption programs, as well as helping other groups and individuals in the work of ending abuse and neglect of equines.
