Furkids is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, cage-free, no-kill animal shelter located in Atlanta, Ga. Our mission is to find loving, lifelong homes for animals in need.
Many of our animals are rescued from kill shelters on their last day, some come to us from owners who can no longer care for them, and most are homeless. Since 2002, we have rescued and adopted 1,200 animals.
Some of the animals arrive terrified and neglected. Most are in need of medical care. Our dedicated volunteers spend countless hours working with our rescue animals, preparing them for adoption.
All of our animals have been examined by a veterinarian, spayed or netuered, dewormed, flea treated, and vaccinated against rabies, distemper, and Leukemia. In addition, all cats have been tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS. When necessary, we even go beyond these basic needs and provide extensive medical care, including major surgeries to repair hernias, broken bones, remove cysts, etc. For elderly cats that we rescue, we do extensive blood work to check their overall health. At adoption, you will receive a free bag of Science Diet food and a voucher for a free exam with our veterinarian. In addition, you will receive resource materials to assist you in helping your cat adjust well to its new home.
We are not connected with any town, state, or federal government agency. We exist entirely through the efforts of our volunteers, and are 100% dependent upon adoption fees, along with the tax-deducitble donations of individuals.
