Foster Pet Outreach is a local non-profit organization, which began in 1990, whose primary focus is to provide for the well-being of animals within our community, particularly those animals that are abandoned, injured, or neglected. Foster Pet Outreach is a licensed animal shelter in Illinois. A unique aspect of our organization is that we do not have a physical shelter, but rather, provide placement of the animals in our program within the foster homes of volunteers, who are able to work with the animals on obedience and social skills, as well as provide human interaction, that allows for the animal to develop in a nurtured manner. Foster Pet Outreach relies heavily on the skills of its volunteers and the generous donations of the public. We promote responsible pet ownership, educate on issues concerning pet ownership, and are committed to the cause of public recognition of the rights of the animals who share our world, and to the cause of finding abandoned, injured, or neglected animals their "forever home".
