The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Fluvanna County is a nonprofit and private organization founded in 1989 in response to a brutal and senseless killing of a pet Labrador Retriever. We have come a long way from the original mule shed built in the 1940s to a modern facility.

Our goal is to rescue domestic animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment and to teach responsible pet ownership. We receive our funding from membership dues, donations, and fundraising events, such as our spring rummage sale. Philanthropic support plays an essential role in ensuring that homeless pets receive humane care. We are always striving to improve our operations and expand our services to the community. Our voluntary Board of Directors, committee members, and volunteers are responsible for all SPCA activities.
