The Faxon Animal Rescue League was founded in 1913 to help overworked and abused draft horses. Through the years, the purpose of the League evolved to assist unwanted companion animals.
We are proud of our history but we are particularly proud of the great strides made in the last decade. We erected a new building, opened a low-cost spay/neuter/wellness clinic, and among our other programs, began obedience classes and bereavement counseling. Most importantly of all, we are proud of the way we treat our shelter residents.
Today, when you visit, you will find a clean, bright and cheerful facility with large state-of-the-art dog runs and cat cages. You will see a blanket and toy with each animal, and volunteers bustling about socializing the cats and walking the dogs. And you will see lots of critters going home.
We expect to adopt at least 600 of our shelter residents into loving homes this coming year..
