Nancy Jensen–Case and daughter Sarah began Dreamtime Sanctuary in the late fall 1995 in response to their frustration at having been unable to help three abandoned horses in a neighboring pasture. Mother and daughter contacted every agency in the area, only to meet with a total lack of concern.
The pair vowed to do everything in their power to help other animals and prevent their suffering the fate of these three.
Nancy and Sarah connected with Arizona friends, whose organization, Hacienda de los Milagros, offers sanctuary to burros, including wild ones from Death Valley and BLM as well as domestic burros and horses.
Thanks to them, Dreamtime secured 501(c)(3) status. Dreamtime Sanctuary and Hacienda de los Milagros operate as a single entity with two separate locations.
