DAWG got its beginnings in 1982 when Jeannie Couch saw a need for animals who had been abandoned in the National Forest to have a place to go.So she began on her own to rescue and care for them. In 1997, she and a few other animal lovers got together and got the shelter its non-profit status. Jeannie is the president of the orginization. DAWG is dedicated to saving animals and making their lives better by providing food, shelter, water veterinarian care and most of all....lots of Love. Each animal at DAWG is considered a pet. Someone is there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to make sure the animals needs are always being met.
This past year, our humans got together and built the second section of Meagan's House and now they are working on the third. Megan's House is an indoor shelter for those of my buddies who aren't in as good health or can't take the weather. We need more funds for building materials to complete the last section. More people helped by sending in Homeless Homers, sending money, or bringing food by! Wow! What a great group of people!
