Animals awaiting adoption receive excellent daily care and socialization. The CCHS/SPCA provides proactive medical and/or rehabilitative care for all treatable companion animals. Because of the thousands of unwanted animals born each day, the CCHS/SPCA requires that all cats and dogs adopted from the shelter be spayed /neutered within 30 days from the day of adoption, or when the puppy or kitten reaches the appropriate age.
NYS Law requires we obtain from adopters a minimum $35.00 spay/neuter deposit which is refunded with proof your pet was spayed /neutered. Adoption fees include a microchip implant and a free visit to a cooperating veterinarian if used within five days. Dogs and puppies are required by NYS Law to be licensed by the adopter before leaving the shelter, and they must receive a rabies shot if over 3 months of age.
