Provide shelter to abandoned, abused and neglected animals. Our first priority are the stray animals at our City Animal ControlAnimal Shelter. When they are not reclaimed they are surrendered to the Brookings Regional Humane Society. All animals are heartworm tested, vaccinated, de-wormed and spayedneutered. Our dogs are put in foster homes, our catskittens are housed in our shelter where we have colony rooms for all the adult cats. Kittens are kept in condos in our Sanctuary Garden in the front lobby. We promote an aggressive spayneuter program by spaying and neutering all animals before adoption. We offer a Low Income Spay Financial Assistance Program to people that qualify based on income or proof of government assistance such as food stamps, or are on disability income. Spaying and neutering all animals is the only way that we are going to end the euthanasia of millions of animals every year in the US, just because there are not enough homes for all them.
