Founded in 1967, the Bay Area SPCA accepts all animals in need of shelter. The Bay Area SPCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that exists solely on donations and shelter earnings. We receive no government funding.
Unlike many animal control groups, we make a commitment to the lives of the animals we accept, knowing that by doing so we may turn away some needy animals. We do not believe that the killing of unwanted healthy animals is the solution to the pet overpopulation challenge.
